Immigration march; she let the cat out of the bag!!

There was a march by illegal aliens and their supporters in San Antonio this afternoon. The crowd was supposed to be 50,000 according to one of the organizers who was interviewed on local radio. Preliminary reports show about 1,000 people showed up. Maybe more would join along the route. This rally... Sign in to see full entry.

You knew the griping about jobs was coming!

I wrote a post a few days ago about the job news from the government. While I thought it was good news I have gotten some comments and read some other posts from people, mostly who don’t have jobs, about how terrible it is. I can sympathize with them to a certain extent. I will also say there are... Sign in to see full entry.

Employers added 211,000 jobs in March WASHINGTON - Employers boosted payrolls by a sizable 211,000 in March in a springtime hiring burst that pushed the unemployment rate down to 4.7 percent. Employment was stronger in March than economists were expecting. Before the release of the report, they were... Sign in to see full entry.

Crowds cheer President and boo Bonds! I like that!!

In Cincinnati the crowd cheered President Bush. In San Diego the crowd booed Barry Bonds. Well, it seems like thats pretty correct. The story did mention both cities are "Republican-leaning". So I can see that in at least a couple of large cities the people have it right; cheering the good guy and... Sign in to see full entry.

Iran and more Iran!

Iran is talking big again. They carry a small stick, but they talk big. They say they have a missile than can do us and Israel great harm and is not detected by radar. I guess some of that is true. I just don’t think they are all that tough. What they can do is use their agents, operating in their... Sign in to see full entry.

I could have done without reading this article!

In our local paper one of the editorialists writes a glowing article about a young, Hispanic girl who is graduating from the University of Texas at Austin (THE University of Texas). She related to the writer how hard it was for her growing up being in a migrant worker family and all. She had to live... Sign in to see full entry.

They are not helping their own cause!

Taking to the streets shouting "Viva Mexico" and waving a Mexican flag just might not be the way to further your cause here in the United States. There were a whole, whole lot of people in the streets marching to protest a new border security and enforcement bill passed by the House. Many of the... Sign in to see full entry.

French protests; Israeli vote; Andy Card; thoughts!!

A lot of people took to the streets to protest in France today. I did not put a number because it depends on who you believe as to what number to trust. Let’s just say it was a whole lot of people. Maybe a million. Maybe more. The students and unions are protesting a law that would give an employer... Sign in to see full entry.

Immigration bill a tough one

Debate in Congress over an immigration bill that is workable will be a tough deal. Both sides of the political aisle have big stakes in this issue. So maybe we can get on with some good, honest, open debate and much less partisanship. This is an issue that maybe will unite us instead of tear us... Sign in to see full entry.
