Do you want Ashcroft to read your medical records?
I just received an alarming newsletter from the NARAL Choice Action Network. Here are the first paragraphs: The Bush Administration has stepped up its campaign against a woman's right to choose, with a new and deeply troubling assault on personal privacy. First, John Ashcroft's Justice Department... Sign in to see full entry.

Emergency Contraception methods (usually pills; can be an IUD) do not cause abortion. They do not work if a women is already pregnant. They prevent... Sign in to see full entry.

March on Washington April 25: find planning parties in your state!
NARAL, Planned Parenthood and other groups are joining forces to plan a gigantic march on Washington, D.C. Sunday, April 25, 2004. (I think the weekend is a stupid time for this, but no one asked me!) Here's a brief description, paraphrased from the NARAL site: The March for Women's Lives, happening... Sign in to see full entry.

My Abortion Story: Kate Michelman
Here is the story of Kate Michelman, outgoing president of NARAL Pro-Choice America. * * * * * * * Three years before the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, my life was shattered. I was married and the mother of three little girls when suddenly, without warning, my husband abandoned us. I had no income, no... Sign in to see full entry.

Bush appoints anti-choice judge behind our backs!
And here I was about to tell you all the current good news about reproductive rights! I guess I'll have to do that later. Right now I hope some of you will be inspired to take action to help protect our reproductive rights after you read this, which was just sent to me in a NARAL newsletter: Bush... A Reminder About This Blog's Policies
Apparently a first-time reader did not realize that I am serious about this blog's purpose, which is posted on the right-hand side of the page. It reads: "The comments section will be edited. Anti-choice rhetoric will not be allowed. If you are not pro-choice, this blog is not aimed at you. " I've... Sign in to see full entry.

The Freedom of Choice Act will protect Roe vs. Wade
I have to say that I don't have complete information about this. I just received an alert from NARAL asking me to sign a petition about it. You have to dig through the NARAL site for info, but what I know now is this: Someone (NARAL alone? A whole group of organizations? A politican? I'm fuzzy about... Sign in to see full entry.

A very precise new way of locating small breast tumours
This doesn't have anything to do with reproductive rights or health, but I thought that readers of this blog might be interested. I just received the latest copy of the Scottsdale Mayo Clinic newsletter. They report about Radioactive Seed Localization, a new and apparently successful method for... Sign in to see full entry.

Spread the word about Emergency Contraception!
Do you know the difference between emergency contraception and medical abortion? A lot of women don't, and therefore they don't ask for emergency contraception when they need it. Emergency contraception will not work if you are already pregnant. It prevents you from becoming pregnant in the first... Sign in to see full entry.
