We did it! The playroom is not finished, finished --there is still the ceiling to do and the uncarpeted floor bit and more bookcases-- BUT the walls are done and the rug is bought and down and the TV is moved in with couch and chair. I only had one bad day but the kids and Scott got busy and cleaned... Sign in to see full entry.

I am swiping this from my daughter's email. She is teaching English in Taiwan. So, something funny happened at school yesterday that you all might get a laugh out of. I teach a bunch of eigth graders. We have terribly cheesy books that we read from and sometimes the stories are less than... Sign in to see full entry.

I did it! I did it!! I had to have a lttle help from Ben and hubby set it up but I finally got to use last year's Christmas present. Yup, the one I had wanted for years and years (and hinted at and no one got me one and) and finally last year when out shopping and saw it on sale and I bought it for... Sign in to see full entry.

We hit a glitch on the trim. It turns out that trim now comes in 7 foot pieces. As the four windows are all 4 foot squares, this will require 4 pieces of trim each at $7:00 a piece-- with a lot of waste. Hubby put the top molding last night and I get to go see if there is a cheaper alternative.... Sign in to see full entry.

There is something about crisp fall air. Coolness seems to take forever to reach us here in Florida but when it does--I wish I could bottle it up to savor in July. Of course that means William's tempermental scooter won't start. Poor thing, it thinks 65 is too cold to run. His smirking days --as he... Sign in to see full entry.

Nov 7, 07 Wed

It's starting to turn cool here in Florida. As I look out the garage window, the oak leaves have a golden-green glow. The front trees have their pinkish-orange seed pods that look like bunches of small balloons sprinkled all over the trees, and it's sweater weather--at least in the mornings. Of... joys of Florida

Moving to florida has been interesting and very different from Ohio. Here's a short one on one of our fun moments. A few weeks after we moved to Florida the internet connection starts going wonky-- as in working sometimes, then hours later not working, etc. no rhyme or reason. So we try all sorts of... "what's cooking?"

You know you're married to a scientist when you come home and hubby's stirring something on the stove and you ask "what's cooking" and he replies "Rocket fuel." No, he's not cooking gunpowder on the stovetop, his current fuel is made from sugar. Bet you didn't know that sugar was explosive. Many... Sign in to see full entry.

moonglow

Driving home from Orlando last night, we leave the city lights behind and have a straight thirty minute stretch across the marshes. We drive mostly in silence, listening to Copeland's Rodeo. "What's that?" asks my hubby. There is a bright silver glinting peeking thru the trees. And then the trees... Sign in to see full entry.

musings at two am

It's been an eventful day. Not that it started out that way. I spent four hours working on the ABC book my daughter wants finished in time for baby --due in a month so I'd better hurry. This will be our first introduction to grandmaing. Apparently I'm not a grandma who sews or knits. It's a whacky,... Sign in to see full entry.
