Tis the season to flaunt folly.

Do we, as humans, really desire peace; or is it the stability of uncertainty that stirs our senses; moves us to action? I say this because, in my heart, there is but scant room for peace any longer. For now, I see it to be a futile pursuit; a philosophical dog chasing its own tail. Too ignorant to... Sign in to see full entry.

Pundits(or Bandits of the mind)

I grow weary of the pundit's platitudes and their incessant attitude of "other-worldness" when worldly matters confront us like beasts uncaged and un- chained. They emote; they write; they judge -- and by whose or what standards other than their own feeble attempts to attract and grab a piece --... Sign in to see full entry.

GRAVEN IMAGES OF A SORT

Ask those firms on Madison Avenue why you were raped. After all, they placed you in a pair of rounded bottom jeans and showed you the benefits of a cottoned crotch in your pantyhose while they crossed your heart by encircling your breasts in their uplifting point of view. Night after night they had... Doc says I

need to rest for a couple of more days. I do tend to exert and extend myself. Right now, I'm transposing a script to prose for Joab's Spot and editing another script, so, my candle burns a bit low. So, I guess I'll be back here some time next week. This posting is akin to my sneaking a cigar and a... Sign in to see full entry.

A DREAM

Late night, I found myself as if within a dream. And in this dream I was in a cluttered and shuttered attic filled with both strange and familiar objects. My gaze fell upon a most dusty mirror face-down upon an ancient book. I picked the mirror up and looked upon its surface. Seeing nothing behind... Sign in to see full entry.

THE GIRL NEXT DOOR

The girl next door moved out today. Silently and without expressed acknowledgment of my presence, she trudged into the house and out again, almost warily, as if feeling her way along an unfamiliar corridor where shadows of hurt and pain nipped at her every movement. For several years I had watched... Sign in to see full entry.

BEACHCOMBER WITHOUT A COMB (written 1968 -- Venice Beach)

I watch you and ponder the method by which you lift stones and shiny surfaces from sand. Is it for con- tinuity's sake -- or in despair -- that you curl fingers into grappling hooks? You "lookers-into-the-sea" for insights; you "graspers of passing flecks of foam"; how curiously you dismiss the... Sign in to see full entry.

I'S CONFUSED

i's becoming I's becoming eyes in cluttered confusion, like so many pedestrians pushing and shoving to board a long-awaited bus, only to be informed that there is room for just one. joab 11--07 Sign in to see full entry.

A Momentary Shower

A gentle rain falls. A peaceful rain; soothing to the brow, and a balm to the soul. The rhythmic "tap" as the drops dance across the roof. Rolling thunder gives direction; the unseen, yet present wind, offers impetus. And then, it moves on, the rumblings no more than a distant rain chant. Yes. It... Sign in to see full entry.

Hi... I've set up a new blog JOAB'S PLACE... for some short stories and such. I"ll be posting them in some fashion... I'll figure it out. Anyway, I'm not going to do any poetry for awhile, this fiction "thing" has caught me. Joab Sign in to see full entry.
