When we left the story last time Dick and Nell had gone just outside the interview room to discuss the situation. When they returned they found Annie slumped across the table sleeping. It was clear that she was too tired to continue. Again Dick drove them home. When he helped Annie from the car and gently released her onto Nell's shoulder, he squeezed the old women's hand in a gentle gesture. It completely surprised him. "Damn!" he thought as he drove away.
