A NEW WEEK

The head cold is slowly leaving my system. I was able to go to work yesterday with a little help from non-drowsy medication to slow the coughing and nose blowing. There were new things to learn, and soon my mind was more on that than the lingering symptoms – the old ‘break your little finger to take... Sign in to see full entry.

UGH!

UGH! I am sick. It’s a head cold with all the trimmings; sore throat, congestion and runny nose, sneezing, coughing, eyes watering, ears ringing, fatigue, headache….and it’s not going anywhere fast. There was no way I could work my shift on Thursday, so I had to call off sick for my second day at... Sign in to see full entry.

THE NEW JOB

Probably getting the flu shot and our continued practicing of mask, hand washing and distance Covid procedures resulted in my not suffering much of a cold anytime this winter. I certainly won’t blame cuddling with Little Flea on Saturday (who could resist that anyway?) for spending the whole Monday... Sign in to see full entry.

A PRIVILEGED BLESSING

It was my DIL’s birthday on Saturday, and ‘my son’ was taking his wife out for the seafood that she loves. Because she works most weekends, this time off made it a rare and special treat. It was a treat for me too; Little Flea spent the night with Mémère! The child was sneezing when she arrived... Sign in to see full entry.

UP! THEN BACK DOWN.

It was a short night. We watched the Toronto Raptors compete until it was time for hockey. My HABS were playing Calgary Flames, and the game only started at 9:00 because of the time difference between Western Canada and here in Quebec. The overtime had it ending even later, but was well worth... Sign in to see full entry.

WAR AND SPRING

I watched as they interviewed Alexander Ovechkin, a well-known Russian hockey player, presently part of the Washington NHL team. How many took to social media and shot him down because he only asked for peace, but did not condemn Putin’s invasion of Ukraine? Maybe I’ll take flack for this, but I can... SNOW AND OTHER THINGS

There is another snow storm followed by ice rain headed our way; supposed to start later today, in fact. My HABS team is playing tonight, and with only satellite reception out here, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll be able to see the game. Karen’s two month stay with her son involved... ANOTHER WEEK

I haven’t posted for 8 days, and am sitting here wondering what I actually DID do for the past week; seems to me it was a lot of absolutely nothing! Not because there isn’t plenty to get done, mind you. It feels like I’ve slipped into a hibernation mode. I did read a book. The title is ‘Sold on a... Sign in to see full entry.

BACK TO THE GRIND?

Friday Today was the day for callback from some potential employers, and they started early. When I had met the accounting firm I was up front during the interview. Because the time they need the most help is during income tax season, I warned them that I had always handed that off to someone else,... Sign in to see full entry.
