A Flash From The Past

Going through a large bookcase one day looking for something else, I ran across an old volume, Baptist Hymnal, and down in the right-hand corner in gold lettering was engraved BALES BAPTIST CHURCH. What memories that brought to mind. I haven't been inside that church since 1988, almost 30 years.... Sign in to see full entry.

How Many Times

I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have lost a Blogit post that I have spent much time and thought on, finally got it just right, and then lost it all in in the posting all on account of FaceBook. And, that is why I am posting this, I just lost another "masterpiece". Perhaps I comment on... Sign in to see full entry.

First Times

I well remember my first flight out of our country and into a world I had only read about. I still watch for videos/photos of the places where I went and things that I saw there and people that I met. This time it is Grandson Matt. He will have so much fun for several reasons. 1) He has a month off... Sign in to see full entry.

Batten The Hatches

We have been going through a time of weather warning this afternoon. Ribcage keeps track of those warnings and feels the urge to repeat them to me every five minutes or so. As of now, there are very bad thunderstorm warnings for 2134 hours (9:34 p.m). I don't see how they can predict so exactly, but... Sign in to see full entry.

Hatred Is Lethal

To him/her who hates, or to the one to whom it is directed there is danger. One of the dangers is to one's own health. Another of the dangers is in the hostility to the recipient of the hatred whether it is physically received or an emotional perception. "I don't hate anyone," is often claimed by... Marianna, to the new baby: "Little baby I don't know you yet, but I know you are perfect and beautiful, and I love you. I don't know you yet but I will soon. I love you perfect baby and that's lullaby from me to you." (Why is Momma wiping tears from her eyes?) Sign in to see full entry.

Wishing Doesn't Make It So

Ballade Pour Adeline is an instrumental composed by Paul de Senneville as a tribute to his newborn second daughter, Adeline. Perhaps you would like to listen to background music as you read my post. It was not exactly a wish of my husband's that a second child would be a daughter, but a dead... Sign in to see full entry.

Tell Him While You've Got Him

"One of the hardest things in life is having words in your heart, that you can't utter." ~ James Earl Jones I love the word "word". It is such an important word but so silly sounding if you say it aloud five times in a row. I also love the definition of the word "word". It describes a word... Sign in to see full entry.

The Morning Of The Fifth Day

I don't seem to accomplish much anymore. In fact, I don't even seem to have the desire to accomplish much. I seem to be floating along in a comfortable place just waiting for time to pass. This is a beautiful day--the sun is shining, the temperature is just exactly right for windows to be open to... Sign in to see full entry.

Under Scrutiny

"Skeptical scrutiny is the means, in both science and religion [and politics], by which deep thoughts can be winnowed from deep nonsense." ~ Carl Sagan I'm wondering if, as we watch the airing of Thursday's hearing of the Senate Intelligence Committee, tomorrow, it might be useful to have at hand a...
