How fortunate the child is who will one day have the memory of lying on a grassy hill on a summer's night with their best friend. Your mother comes out to check on you but knowing you're with your best friend, she knows you are safe and allows you to stay out a little longer. I was one of these fortunate children and the grassy hill was in our back yard and our collie, Bonnie, was my best friend. I am a children's author of a series titled "The Whimsy & Wisdom of Emma Pearl & Friends". Told in poetry and rhyme, these are the stories of Emma Pearl (my black Lab & best friend now) & Friends, how they perceive the world and the universe and the value they place on their family and each other. Although different breeds and species, they have easily learned what man has struggled with for eons of time; that a family is much more than being related and true friends, love and respect begin with nothing more than the desire to understand. For all animal lovers, please enjoy.
