One thing I hate to do
Every year I have the distinct privilege of reviewing my life and my "job." Following the review I get to write up an assessment. How well did I do reaching specific goals, etc. It is a process I must do, but I really hate doing it. It seems as if it is more paperwork. I understand the reason why I...

More on "Amish Grace"
I haven’t quite given up on completing the book. It isn’t that long, but my "work" gets in the way of completing it. Oh, I’m talking about two different things. I’ve been reading a book, Amish Grace and I’ve been writing a book. I would really like to complete both. In reality, I’ll finish reading...

Eugene Grimm had a link to this labyrinth. Thought someone might enjoy it. I did. http://www.gratefulness.org/labyrinth/chartres-auto.htm

It's that time of year -- stewardship campaigns. Help?
Okay, I've been given a task. Decide what "program" should we use for our church stewardship campaign. Well, the one I think would be the best costs big bucks. But this is more than a stewardship (money) program. It is designed as a spiritual growth study. I really think this is the best. I sensed...

Grace
I've been reading Amish Grace: How Forgiveness Transcended Tragedy, by Donald B. Kraybill, Steven M. Nolt and David L. Weaver-Zercher. It was written following the shootings at the school near Nickels Mine in Pennsylvania. One of the Amish minister's said, " Shouting down the beliefs of other people...

Something to Ponder
I found the quote and thought it worthwhile to share. "The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays." Soren Kierkegaard

What a Surprise!
We are in the middle of a recession. I am well aware of that. We have people in our congregation who have lost their jobs and health care. It is a difficult time. However, while the economy isn't very good, the generosity of people was overwhelming this weekend. The St. Jude Midwest held another...

An Old Dog Can Learn New Tricks
The last post was frustrating. I couldn't transfer music to my mp3 player (I'm too cheap to buy an IPod). Determined woman would aptly describe me. I finally figured it out. I'm now in the process of doing all the transfers. I guess the old adage about not being able to train an old dog isn't true....

It always bites back!
I started to write on this blog this morning about my husband being technologically challenged. Well, I have spent almost the entire morning trying to load music to his new mp3 player. I must be as technologically challenged as he. I haven't gotten it and I've done it before. So I'm frustrated.
