Vog Galore! Yuck!
The vog (or volcanic haze) from the Big Island of Hawaii has moved on up the chain again. The air here is terrible. My eyes are burning. My nose is unhappy. My cough is getting worse. I need this trip to California this weekend just to get away from this air! Haha View pics of the vog here.

Lanai Trip -- February 2009

Last Week We Had Lots Of Rain

Ahhhh . . . Rain
For about a week now it's been raining nearly every day. The rain is so peaceful and cozy. This past Saturday I curled up in bed with a good book and Squeaky. It was pure bliss. I love rainy days in Hawaii.

Flossie--No Longer A Threat?
She's now a Category 1 hurricane. We got a bit worried this afternoon when she took a turn northward, but the NWS has since downgraded her. Still, she packing winds of nearly 100mph and is still capable of doing some real damage to us should she continue on her new path. We're not out of the woods...

Flossie gets closer
Looks like Hurricane Flossie (who thinks up these names!?!?) is getting closer to us. Last I checked, she was about 800 miles from Hawaii and still going strong. Flossie -- HAH!
So we're keeping out eye on Flossie. She was just upgraded from a tropical storm into a hurricane. She's expected to pass south of the Hawaiian Islands, but you never know--she may change direction. Hawaii is due for a hurricane. It's been about 15 years since our last bad hurricane: Iniki hit Kauai...
