MIXING BUSINESS WITH PLEASURE - Moving Up In The Writing World....

So I know I mentioned this before, but I have become increasingly clever about my writing engagements and personal activities and plans...:) I wrote about my little brother's 8th grade graduation for an article in a local paper, and also about my former rugby team just for fun. I also just cracked a... Sign in to see full entry.

Laziness About Invoices - Getting on the Ball, or Getting the Ball Rolling

So I am beginning to think I am the craziest freelancer of them all! For all of 2005 and even before that, I have had this aversity toward creating and sending invoices to my editors and publishers. I don't quite understand it from a psychological standpoint... I mean, classical conditioning should... Sign in to see full entry.

My motivation is sinking and I feel so unfulfilled...

I've been doing the freelance thing for about a month and a week. My dad is freaking because I don't have a "real job." My mom gets sad because I sleep a lot and hole up in my room, avoiding chores and personal contact. My gut tells me a lot of the jobs I take aren't even minimum wage once you... As a freelance writer - i.e. self-employed person - I obviously have to declare my income and pay taxes just as any other professional or employee of any company would. But the problem comes when I've heard two different stories as to HOW I should go... Sign in to see full entry.

Writer's Block... or Writer's Blockout?

I don't know about you guys, but I sure have a hard time turning down paid work. Even when it is monotonous and tedious and boring... same old, same old. Do you ever accept a project because you see the dollar signs before you see the hours, maybe days even, of work that you'll be putting in.... Sign in to see full entry.

So much to write, so little time.... Strike while inspiration's hot!

When do you feel most inspired? I have written my best song lyrics in the shower. My best journal entries when I'm unabatedly emotional... Offered my best advice when I'm securely separate from the situation... When it comes to writing the best articles, though, it seems the midnight through 3 a.m.... Sign in to see full entry.
