Seagulls' Lament

Lacy fingers tendril out to caress the pebble dotted strand, Then draw back in a soft massage, bearing driftwood, shells and sand Into the icy current of the moody, dark, flood-swollen river To mingle with the thundering waves that cause the silent stones to shiver.
