Welcome TimeBeing!

TimeBeing, first of all, I wish you the best of luck in college.  I read that you are studying to become an English teacher.  I was an English major myself, but chose not to get into teaching.

Also, welcome to the Blogging Network.  You'll soon catch on to all the good and bad aspects of the board.  I have read a little of your writing so far, and it is interesting.  Different, but interesting.  It seems you like to experiment with various genres.  I am the same way.  A lot of my writing uses short, curt sentences which then flow into a stream-of-consciousness type type of writing.  It has worked well for me.  I am sure your style will work well for you!

Aloha!

yes.

i'm in college.  a sophmore.  and i feel it every day.  i see it, hear it, blah blah blah.  what people don't understand, I think, is one simple-simple-simple thing:  we are all going to die one day.  time here should be spent on positive, helpful, fun things . . . not ranking and ripping and stomping on people in order to get a few laughs from yourself and a few shallow listeners.  shallow... is too shallow. of a word.  for what i'm trying to say... and for what you are expressing with your words.

thank you for writing this.  i'll be reading more, indeed.

Ya Know, There's a Song About That...

One of the folk-singing troupes of the 60s and 70s used to perform this song; they lyrics, to the best of my memory, are:

"They're rioting in Africa; they're starving in Spain;
"There's hurricanes in Florida, and Texas needs rain.
"The whole world is festering with unhappy souls.....

"....They're rioting in Africa; there's strife in Iran;
What nature doesn't do to us will be done by our fellow man."

I've always thought that song was a pretty good picture of the way things are.
