There have been many floods before and since 'civilization' and you know how people tend to project and equate their own experience of their own whole world onto the whole world? And as humans have always loved stories with drama, every telling gets bigger and more catastrophic...  I know there was a time when the Mediterranean basin got blocked off from the Atlantic, and everything dried up. Then, ages later, with more geologic action the blockage was cleared and the waters returned. I'll bet that generated some good stories!

We have been following some of these new discoveries. One that seems to us that I had always dismissed as myth is the great flood. Was most of an ancient, very ancient civilization destroyed in a great warming of earth and a rising of the seas; flooding most of the land?
