Hi there, Aba Brother! I agree that Tragedy can be cathartic. It is often said that horror movies (I don't watch them) are popular with some people because the real world doesn't see so awful to them after watching one.

But back to the topic, for me a good man hurled from happiness into misery does elicit pity - and sorrow - but not revulsion.

Sometimes or maybe inevitably I feel the poets own miseries may be portrayed in poetry one has written. As divorce from their father became more and more realistic for me, I wrote some very unhappy Poetry years ago. my kids said i was the most miserable poet they had ever read and why didn't I write something cheerful instead.

Good afternoon

I believe that the relief of strong emotions following a tragedy is most definitely necessary in order to move to the next stage which comes after the feeling of helplessness.
