I'm not a big fan of people shooting off fireworks either. It's scary how much of a lack of awareness so many have.

Aww - poor wee things. Fortunately  no fireworks here this year for either St-Jean Baptist nor for Canada Day -  too much danger for fire. Colour me  happy!! And my beasts too, plus all the other birds and beasts out there in nature. We were watching our Blue Jays play in Chicago Tueday night and could hear the boom-booms of the celebrations behind the game

Good Morning

Kabu, I'm so glad you are enjoying your new home.  The 4th of July can be very loud.  I hope you have a wonderful day and stay cool.  It's been so hot here.  Yesterday it was 90 degrees and that's a little too warm for me.  Sadie does not like the heat and doesn't like to go outside.  We spent the day in the air conditioning.  She was as happy as could be.

Good evening

Gus and Greta, our neighborhood groundhogs feast in my yard early in the morning. I never shoo them off because I figure we all need to eat in order to survive. I feed them all. It seems that we all have similar events and festivities no matter what part of the world that we live in. The bad weather seems to be the only obstacle. We managed to see the fireworks last night, and my borough will have them again later this month during the River festival. I try to enjoy them while I still can. Have a nice evening.

Groundhogs are kind of bumblers, they rock from side to side, and cute,

especially if they try to hurry. I didn't mind the one that had a burrow under my deck, but after the contractor with his backhoe tore out the pond and filled it in, he hasn't been back. During the project, the entrance to the burrow was filled up. My son tells me they can damage a house's foundation. I have my doubts about how a small animal's digging can get through concrete.  I also hate loud fireworks.
