I'm sorry, and I completely understand your grief. Grief hits everybody differently and even hits the same person differently at different stages of their life.
Your reaction was completely normal. This is why I post this stuff. It gives people the chance to voice their grief.

My loved ones gone before me would want me living in vibrant colors and lovely music for as long as I am here. The day one of my sisters died I sat at her bedside and began to sing a child's song from the past. When I finished she whispered, "Sing it again" and I could not because I was crying in grief.
