I lost my paternal grandmother to Alzheimer's. Very terrible disease. My Dad at 66 has lived longer than his father did (62). My grandmother was 87 when she died, so he's got a ways to go. My mother is 66 and outlived her father (58). Her mother died at 76. It's weird to me that my mother is 10 years away. My grandmother seemed so old.

Thanks, Kabu. You're right, we're all in pretty good shape, for the
shape we're in... as Mama used to say. One thing I've finally gotten through my head - about the hardships we go through - is that they teach us empathy. We begin to understand at long last that everybody in this life "walks through fire" and if we're still able to stand on our own two feet, we're one of the lucky ones. Have a good day.
