Sherri, I've learned something from this post. I had no idea this was a problem. I wonder if the bad water affected anyone's health?

The lemon etc would make drinking more pleasant but unless treated, the water could still kill.

I didn't know it had a role in the temperance movement nor did I know about the bad water aspect.
