I didn't know wigs factored into hiding syphyllis.
For a time, Baltimore was number one is syphyllis. We always seem to be number one in something bad.

This reminds me of my first real job after highschool. I was the Secretary for the Director of Public Health Nursing in the Kansas City Health Department. There were various departments in this part of the Health Dept. One of them was for the control of venereal diseases. I didn't really have anything to do with that section but you wouldn't believe the "education" I got. Every Saturday night prostatutes were rounded up and taken by PaddyWagon to spend the rest of the weekend in jail and then on Monday Morning they were brought into the VD Clinic for testing. They had to pass down the hall outside of my office door still dressed in their get up's of Saturday night and complaining about the police that would "sleep" with them and then arrest them.
