I've never made a speech on a soap box, but if I had a soap box, I might do it even now, once in a while.

Hyde Park in London UK...in the 60's when I was there, they would be standing on their soap boxes and spouting forth.

Sherri, I love the photo and this post. I "knew" about the olden days
when the Watkins man went door-to-door with his horse-drawn buggy - and later on, with a post Model-T Ford wagon - to sell vanilla and a variety of spices, and soap was packed in boxes too. I think the companies stopped with the itinerant peddlers - and those selling vacuum cleaners door-to-door sometime in the 1950s.
