You could be right.
That's why I've long advocated a true minor league system for basketball patterned after baseball's. Let the kids who want to be pros go ahead and get their feet wet in the minors. Let the kids who want an education first have the athletic scholarships. And make the NBA leave them alone until they've finished their junior year. It works. More kids get educations. Everyone gets the opportunity to try out for a professional career. Almost no one gets left out in the cold with neither.

...of playing too many actual college students.
