Your life seems to be all learning about setting and owning your own boundaries. It's tough, especially when others in our lives don't much like changes to what they have long found convenient.

Thank you both; I am more settled now. I haven't even mentioned the roof! I have a flat-roof extension and a black mould spot has developed in an outer corner, which is spreading gradually with all the recent rain we've had. At least it's not part of the main house so not quite so distastrus as it could have been.
So as well as sanding back the front door, which took all day and also involved calling a locksmith to inset the deadlock a bit further, I have to get that seen to. The lights in there have fused, I think due to water ingress, and I need an electrician but not until the leak is fixed - still waiting for the roofer who has rescheduled from early this morning, and it's getting dark at around 4:30 these winter days.
On top of this I locked myself out of the house the next day, just going next door! I'd picked up my car keys instead of the house keys. All's well that ends well, I got the locksmith out again and now have a key safe so that I can't do that again.
I'm sure life was less complicated once, I just can't remember when! Haha

I remember you were always having troubles when you used to write here before. They don't seem to have changed at all for you. I am sorry about that. Here for you
