Re: Re: Re: mneme,

Hello Ciel - I think my daughter has just got it - two days ago my back went out so I’m not to lift the toddler (13kilos!), then last night a piece broke of a tooth (fortunately a back one) so am having to see a dentist here this afternoon - so I’ve been instructed to have a rest day and we’ll all catch up tomorrow again.

Re: Re: mneme,

I understand very well what you say about kids not realizing what time has been doing to us. I've gradually been educating mine what it means that I am diabetic, and that there are things I simply have to avoid eating. A new baby is so exhausting! And we, as elders, just can't help with physical stuff as much as they might need or assume we can handle.

We need them to be more patient with us, while we are trying to be more patient with them!

Re:

Hi Sea Gypsy - I definitely am .. my daughter asked me only yesterday if I could extend my stay. I could, if I had proper arrangements in place for my house to be cared for, but I cannot ... it would probably cost me my relationship of nearly 13 years. Perhaps their 70-year old divorced mum ought not to mind being on her own out in Australia where I can both help with the kids and be ‘looked after’ by my own kids as I grow old? When they are older and wiser they will understand better.

Thank you FSI .. people can only do what they can do, I hope the remaining ten days will be more calm.

Re:

Hi Ciel - I think they are all exhausted, especially my daughter with the new baby (10 weeks). They’ve concluded that it’s better to maintain five days at nursery for the 21 month old as she’s so lively - a beautiful child nonetheless, but too young to take your eyes off even for a minute and dad can’t pick up the slack while he’s working.

I don’t yet know who’s collecting me from the airport on my return - !  My son and my brother paid for my flight to Brisbane (70th birthday present), there is a lot of love and goodwill but not much understanding that things are a lot harder for me now than they were ten years ago.

Re:

Thank you Taps - all I could think of was additional prayer for them all to get more sleep .. it has been answered in part, Friday was much more peaceful. My son’s car is fixed, the baby was more settled, the toddler was back at nursery and the domestic airport was quiet and orderly.  I hope for continued improvement.

So sorry this is the way things are.  I wish I had a magic wand for you to wave over the participants in this "fiasco".   Sad that things have to be this way.

Wow... They don't sound at all welcoming, not even courteous. What were they expecting when they wanted you to visit?

So sorry to read you going through all that. Here's to hoping for a resolution.

Good afternoon

The best of luck to you. There's no place like home, that is for sure. May all go well for you so that you can get back to the place that you love the most.
