Re:
Exactly! My son mentioned that there was no following context. Just that it wasn't a holiday and it weighed on his friend. He is very sweet and caring, and I looked it up and told him the definition, but said that we can call it a celebration instead.

Re: Good afternoon
I agree that oftentimes Halloween can be a place of fear and gore. Adults love having fun at their levels, too. I love a good haunted house/maze. But, I do think that those who decorate/pass out candy, can take that element out, and create the peace and calm that is much needed. I want to be a respite where I can meet new people and their kids or reminisce with ones that are taking themselves trick-or-treating.

Nothing like a party pooper. Who cares if it is or not? Celebrate!

Good afternoon
Well said. I have always loved Halloween because it is so near my October birthday, and then I married a man who has an October birthday that is even more near to Halloween. Our three daughters love celebrating October 31 with the carving of pumpkins, handing out candy, and dressing up in costume. Creativity and community are the biggest element behind the day that little ones go around and collect candy. I have heard that many people wish for Halloween to end. It could be that the gore aspect is too much when you look back on our world these past few years. One possible scenario is that thee world is in need of peace and Halloween does not represent calm.
