From my perspective if personhood includes many concepts and possibly awareness of self or lack thereof, then perhaps the idea of personhood may need to be categorized in sub-sections such as a human person, an unborn person (think frozen embryos); an animal "person;" and A.I. person; etc.

The Non-human Rights Project has been using habeas corpus principles and laws for years to get US courts to recognize that particular individual chimpanzees and elephants deserve to be protected as persons, not things. So far these cases not been fully successful, but small steps foward have been made.

Interesting. I have never heard that term, but I do know that we could all use a lot more kindness in this world.
