I'm afraid I splurged this morning when I saw fresh oysters that looked really good.  I bought a pound (including the oyster slime) for over $22 and when I got home made it into a great oyster stew.  I think I will devide it into about four servings though and eat lots of crackers with it.

Good Afternoon

Sherri, I really need to do what you did and sit down and come up with a plan for the high prices.  So far chicken legs at the grocery store have been reasonably priced so I know we will have more chicken legs.  I can make a lot of soups too.  If we have potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, and garlic we can use them in a lot of different dishes.  I have my roast and vegetables cooking in my crock pot and Michelle came in and said I smell something really good.  These meals take a little more time but they are so worth it because you can eat them for more than one meal.  I guess we will have to go back to the old way of cooking because anything else is going to be much too expensive. This is how I raised the kids so thankfully I'm used to cooking like this.  I think this is probably the way people survived back in the depression.  I've heard stories but I've always been thankful that I didn't live back then.  I think maybe we should all share ideas when we find something good that's inexpensive.  The price of fast food has gone up so much that I don't see how anyone will be able to afford that type of food soon.  I think if everyone keeps a freezer with tomato sauce/ spaghetti sauce and a pantry with noodles it will be good if prices continue to go up.

That's a great way to beat the prices. I sure hope things come down soon.
