Re: When I lived out west, we had geckos in the yard.
I much prefer the birds and squirrels.

I hear birds in the morning. Lots of geckos of sizes race all around.

if you leave them alone they are beautiful creatures. I had two of them on the property in Canada at one time. We respected wach other, gave each other space.

Although living in the bush, the squirrels and chippies and birds are the only ones who come close here. We do see a pair of foxes on the other side of the road, well away from where the dogs could interrupt their play or hunting. Moose and deer pass by occasionaly, also steering well out of reach of the beasts.

Re: We've yet to have a fox or a bear, but you never know.
John spotted a coyote in our yard a few years ago. I'm glad that it was him and not me. I would have fainted on the spot.

Good Afternoon
I guess it's really a surprise to see who's going to show up next. I've seen a few red foxes around here and I saw one skunk and then we have packs of coyotes and many deer.

Re: Some of our communities ban feeders too.
Ours is not one of them. We live near the woods and the river, so you never know who or what will show up in the yard from day to day.

That's the reason our city council has banned bird feeders here.
Apparently the animal control officers can handle raccoons, etc., but not skunks.
