Jim is out in the heat in the garden pruning trees and pulling weeds. if i say anything he will just stay there longer. naughty old man.

Even here it is much hotter than usual Archie has planted marrows etc but they do not seem to grow as they should, if we did not water each day they would just shrivel up.

I have dug out an old book and old friend gave me in the 1980's and I never did read. I started it last night before the power went out and I had no light to read by. It is Joanna Stratton's "Pioneer Women, Voices From the Kansas Frontier" and it is really good. I wish I could thank her for it again but she died many years ago.

Sassy, I'm waiting for the cooler weather to arrive. I feel sorry for my cousin because food is so expensive right now and now her freezer is down because of the storm.

Good morning
Power bumps are a real nightmare when you are protecting a freezer full of food. I sure hope that they didn't lose anything. The ice is helpful. It's hot here too, but the coming storms this afternoon should cool everything down. It is crazy weather all over the world right now. Be safe and stay cool.

Pat, because of the heat I've been home too. When I get too hot I go to the living room. I'm on the 4th chapter of my new book. I've been trying to write one chapter a day. I know during the freezing winter months there will be those that appreciate your warm hats. Spanish rice sounds really good. I haven't made rice for a while. I hope you stay cool!

We've been lucky in this area so far, the power has stayed on.
I'm beginning to get a little stir-crazy from being confined to quarters, in solitary except for Blogit, Facebook and the TV. Old songs sing themselves in my mind, I've picked up some thread and crocheted a couple more unnecessary hats. Today I'm gonna make Spanish rice in the crockpot, an experiment. Stay cool!

My power went off again during the night for several hours. I'm glad it was during the night instead of hot afternoon. I don't know what the problems was but everything seems to be doing fine now.
