Re: anib, they can be when placed in a good area for maximum effect.
I have a mirror in my bedroom, but it is placed on a wall that does not show my bed. We use it as a last-minute checkpoint before heading out the door.

I don't want a mirror in the bedroom because I don't want to see
myself in my baggy nighty. The one over the bathroom sink is revelation enough.
