I've seen people kept alive long after their 'end of program' date because someone couldn't 'bear to think of losing them.' In my opinion, that ain't right. I wanted my wife to live, but my mission was to guide her safely home. While not the 'get into their face' religious types, Judy and I both believed there is another level after this life is done. We had seen people live long after they should have died, and it didn't look like fun to us. We had made a pact about what we wanted to be done. Lisa and I have our own understanding. When it was time, and when it IS time, all parties know what to do.

Sound advice, The only thing I sometimes ask is when they have felt the first stage of grief, and are married. 'Would you wish your dear one to suffer like this if you had passed away first?'  Well, something to that effect.
