C_C_T, our weather is so strange that I have no idea what is going on.  We are supposed to get snow this week but we have to wait and see.

Re: Re:

Well, we rarely get any these days until well after Christmas. One it would last for weeks, but no longer.

LOL....I have to get through Halloween tomorrow first. In Canada living in the woods nobody ever came for trick or treat so I have a big bowl of little chocolates for the children to dip into.

Re: Good afternoon

Sassy, I'm so glad you brought your houseplants inside.  They really do brighten up a room.   Our living room is filled with them and there are some in the kitchen.  We are always happy when we know the plants are warm and safe.  The cheesy crockpot potato dish sounds delicious.  We always make a ham too.  I think Roy and I need a few more lights in the living room for the plants.  We are going to look around and see what we can do.

Re:

C_C_T, I have to say the reason I make my broth like I've done for so many years is that it's a tradition. I love Thanksgiving.  When does the snow start falling in your area?

Re:

Annicita, I've made cranberries for Thanksgiving but I think I like the canned ones best.  I will say homemade ones are good when you add some orange pieces to them.

Re:

Taps, I'm glad this year that the kids are helping me.  I have to say having a feast for Thanksgiving day is a lot of work.  I've always loved Thanksgiving.  It's a time to be thankful for our family and friends.

Good afternoon

I am worried that frost will kill out outdoor plants, so we brought our houseplants in today. They really brightened up my livingroom. I bet that your turkey broth is delicious. We are having Thanksgiving at our middle daughter's house this year. We make a spiral ham and they make the turkey. I also plan to make a cheesy crockpot potato dish. The leaves are really pretty this time of year. John and I explored the woods yesterday. The leaves are all so vibrant with their yellow, orange, and red hues. Later, I plan to cut my herbs and use what I can for the next week and freeze the rest.

I saw a while ago it's going to be tough to find turkeys under 20 pounds. There are going to be a lot of leftovers this year.

I did not really know what Thanksgiving was, but I have now learned that it was really in praise of the competed Harvest and connected to the Pilgrims who entered America in the 1600s. We have bonfire night on Nov.5th it is a good time to burn rubbish. Hope the broth turns out as hoped. Nice to have a secret . We make ours in two minutes from a jar of Bisto. Please don't shudder/.

Not sure about the pumpkins but cranberries are grown on the east coast (maybe other places too).

You sound like I used to when I was younger than I am now.  I loved cooking Thanksgiving Day and having all of the relatives to my house for that day.  I loved my Sons and their families, my parents, and others.  It was always my favorite holliday.  I think it has been about ten years since I did all that, but I will never forget those years.
