Re: Annicita, I was born after that time so I heard of most of it too.
What a wonderful ethnic blend that your family is. I was in my 40s before I ever tasted hummus or tabbouleh. As for Mexican food, we lived near the border, so I got to eat authentic tamales and chili Rellenos in my early 30s.

Mine was different. My father was Mexican and his mom was Lebanese. So we heard of and ate a lot of that.
