Not that awesome, compared to what some pros use. Mine is a point/shoot in the $300 range, which is very middling. It's digital, not fancier.

Sometimes I actually get close up, but often I use the zoom, or get up close in the editing process. Sometimes I get out, but often I just stop, roll down the window, and lean out to get around the side mirror!
The camera I use now is pretty good, but I used to have to turn off the engine, or the picture would blur.
Also, the settings on the camera take the very highest resolution images so they can be enlarged without pixelating.
