I love the Mountains and the sea and especially where one has to wind down from the mountain to the flat plain directly in front of the sea.Fabulous pictures dear friend.

Re: TAPS,

That was before Interstates, I guess, when Rte 66 was the main road to the West. It's so different now, with those super highways and posted speeds up to 80mph! Our trip in 1970 was mostly 55-65 everywhere. And gas in those days was so much less! Even less the first time we did a similar trip when I was 10! In '62, gas ranged from around .50 to maybe as high as .70 per gallon!

In 1954 Dad decided we were going to do a family roadtrip following Route 66 and all it entailed across the US from Chicago to the California Coast.  There were no Mount Rainiers along the way but it was quite a trip and Dad never again volunteered to do a family trip.  LOL.  I was 15 that summer.  My siblings were 13, 11, 8, 2 (and of course Mom).  When the TV series came on in the 1960's it was especially fun for all of us as we looked for things and places to remind us of our trip.

Re: Goldiec,

Mount Rainier grabbed me by the heart, and I went to live in Washington state for over 30 years. Now, Pike's Peak is framed in my living room window. As a kid, living in Redding, CA, Mount Shasta was to the north, and Mount Lassen directly east. Only in the years living on the east coast--NY, NJ, and Ohio--did I have no mountains on my horizon!

Of course, south of Cleveland was always Chagrin Hill...

Good Afternoon

Wow!  Mount Rainier is amazing!  I remember the first time I went to Colorado.  I thought it was the most beautiful place on earth.  I've always wanted to go back.  I did get a chance to go again and I loved it every bit as much as the first time.  I think we have some amazing places in the United States.
