Sassy, this post makes me smile.  Some of my friends have been married more than once, twice or three times.  They would have been better off paying the tax.   Can you just imagine? I tell these guys that at some point they've got to realize they are just not marriage material.  They've all paid out a gadzillion dollars but they still don't learn.  I think some men are in love with love not marriage. If that makes any sense.

Re: Back then, I think there was plenty of bad marriages. They were stuck.

Divorce was frowned upon in those days, so remaining single was a smart move until the right one came along.
