  So, COVID-19 has affected the trend in favoring online shopping historically. Macy's Santa's going online, for a child tksit on his lap and tell him their toy list virtually. And, digital's on that!

Safety from COVID and violence. No having to fight for a parking space or using gas either.

The COVID has increased both violence and online shopping.

Now we have a bunch of empty malls and shopping centers that look like something out of the apocalypse.

I believe that it does, yes. I imagine some people look at social distancing rules and mask laws and decide it's too much of a hassle. Therefore, they go with online shopping.
