Re: We were going to rake our leaves yesterday, but we were told...

Sassy, thank you so much for your comment.  We take the leaves into our back woods and pile them up for the deer to lay on during the cold winter months. There are so many leaves on this property that we could never pick up all the leaves and every time a wind comes we get all our neighbors leaves from down the road.

Re:

C_C_T, thank you so much for the comment.  I do know that leaves make good compost and we usually take ours to our woods for the winter.  I think they make good beds for the deer that live on the property.  No sweeties left!  haha

I suppose leaves make good compost. Ours are Walnut and they do not. Any sweeties left?

We were going to rake our leaves yesterday, but we were told...

that the bees use the fallen leaves as winter homes, and they also protect insect eggs, larvae, dormant spiders, and ground burrowing insects. The leaves add a layer of warmth and overhead protection. If you want lightning bugs in your yard in the summer, leave the leaves for them. They lay their eggs under fallen deciduous leaves.
