Oh, yes. I cannot stand how Christmas basically starts now.

Yeah, even in a good year that's how I feel!
Since they're all effing cancelled anyway for all intents and purposes, who cares if it's Christmas or Halloween or Tooth Fairy Day? We've lost every single one of our holidays this year after it was Valentine's Day, and that doesn't really count as a holiday. No - or rather, it is discouraged - trick-or-treating; no gatherings of more than 3 families for more than 2 hours - as in Thanksgiving; Christmas is probably a drive-through event where the family does a grab-n-go for gifts; no New Year's Eve in Time Square; no Rose Bowl parade. Rrhh. And the Rose Bowl thingie was decided way back in - what - June? Thoughts on that, anyone? Sorry to rant.

I have always felt the same about this.
The holidays are too commercialized for me. It makes them almost unenjoyable due to the high pressure of pending instead of spending time with family. We used to fall victim to the trap when our kids were young, but not anymore. I enjoy the gathering over the drained bank account.
