The Federal Reserve claims that it is only temporary.
There is one claim that the coins are being evenly distributed to banks and credit unions across the nation and that more coins will be produced after the economy opens up once again. In our area, we have signs posted everywhere stating that you must pay with exact change. Walmart isn't even excepting cash, only credit card or debit.
