Congratulations on 34 years together. That is a blessing. If you have each other and you don't give up. You will make it through.

Re:
We have something in common. I too was married twice before I met my present wife. Your story is a beautiful story. It is the kind of story that ends up hidden behind all the bad news in the world. It is, in essence, the true fabric of our lives.
The part of humanity that seldom gets a voice. A true lasting love story,

exactly true. Twice I married for wrong reasons, twice it didn't work. Then I found the love of my life who, even though he is now in a home, we still are the best of friends and just love each other.

Your view on this is perfectly stated.
My husband and I just celebrated 34 years one week ago. Our health isn't the same, unemployment has occurred, as has many other trials and tribulations. He and I are best friends who love each other unconditionally; gray tresses, slower moving body parts, belly fat, and all.

Your last paragraph is right on the money...Sadly death comes along takes your companion away, and then the loneliness conquers all!
