Sedona is magical, literally. If one can overlook the commercialism, there is something so different about it. They say it's on a ley line. I don't know about that, but I enjoyed the town, and the surrounding area. It didn't feel like a vortex, as some say, but it did feel special.

Re: Sea Gypsy,
Thanks! That's exactly why I'm posting these now. I've really loved driving cross-country, often on my own. However, I have never yet been to Sedona!

Re: sassyass,
Years ago my parents took us to southeastern Arizona in the summer for several weeks, and every afternoon there were magnificent thunderstorms up in the Chiricahua mountains. We were in the foothills, and sometimes got the storms, but often it was dry there with flashfloods roaring down the creeks. There was a day when the rains were all over the area for a couple of days, and the floods came down, overwhelming the creekbed, and literally rolling the asphalt off the road where it crossed. I still see it in my mind's eye, and remember thinking it looked like the Amazon coming through the jungle. Not that I'd ever seen the Amazon...
Colorado is a spectacular state!

I loved living in Arizona, minus the monsoon season.
Your photos are fabulous. We drove through Colorado on our was to Pennsylvania. It is such a beautiful state. Thanks for sharing so many different parts of the west.
