Isolation can happen in a group setting, so, yes. The brain is an interesting organ.

Bill, that's about as bad as it gets - to have your girlfriend leave with someone else. The sting is terrible. I am sorry that happened to you. Yes, one can feel alone anywhere and at anytime: an emotional disconnect.

I believe that one can be alone in a crowd of people, a family gathering or at a dinner table of six. It is all about emotional and mental well being. Connecting with other people run's deeper than simply being in the same room.
