He sounds like a smart guy. I still haven't relented where the Smartphone is concerned. Of course this is much to the dismay of our three daughters and my parents. I have a Tracphone. It is ancient, but it is cheap. I too will succumb to the life of addiction where cell phone use is concerned, but I am not looking forward to it. Everywhere you go, people walk with their head's down, totally submerged in technology. Ugh!

Some of us are reluctant adapters. Change resisters. Anyone
who's been bitten by the writing bug will adapt to the new methods - esp. if there's any interest in selling the work. I wish him well.
