Re: I have been thinking lately about having a house built with an eye

Sounds OK Pat, I suppose some do have a cellar , Lots of things to consider I suppose a nice redecorated cave would be pretty safe. I was looking at a house today it had been washed quite a way from its foundations. Most of the older houses around here are built of  Cotswold stone. When they developed near me they were large holes where from I assume the stone had been taken.

Re: FS

I think there must be a spring nearby OK if one can use it and then pass it on.

Your cousin is having to deal with a big ordeal there. I hope everything gets sorted out with the big hole he finds himself in literally and figuratively.

I have been thinking lately about having a house built with an eye

to the future. It includes an underground bunker area - we have lots of tornadoes here - and being built at least partly below ground level so as to stabilize the temperature. Not so much air conditioning needed in summer - or in case of global warming issues, not so much heat in winter. There would be solar panels to generate electricity, a tank to hold a week's worth of drinking water, and constructed so as to be resistant to winds of up to 140 mph, and a gas-powered generator to keep the lights and fridge going in case of a power outage. Have yet to figure out how to make it "off the grid" and at the same time convenient to grocery stores....
