Son Number 2 hates me and thinks that I don't care for him. Not true. A mother always cares. When he was, by then a man, and came home late from a Gig...he is a professional musician...I would smile and drop into a sound sleep that had evaded me until he was home safe and sound.

The early arrival or the call to inform where one is does feel relieving.

Yes, for young teens especially. I always told my girls, even when they were over 18, to call if they were going to be later than expected, just so I wouldn't worry. They were pretty good about that.
