I’ve never seen a gated car wash! For self-serve it might be off-putting. And like you said, the cost of the install, the technology, the upkeeo. No, not a good idea for you guys, methinks.

I use one where you have to use a card. The amount charges depends on the services chosen and the length of use...It runs about $9.00 by the time I finish.....

I think keep it as simple as possible , I know you can't hand wash although it is still a feature here.

I can't imagine a gate would help anything at a car wash.
Saw on one of the court shows recently a story about a woman who tried to drive in the exit of a car wash and ended up damaging the car. Wasn't her car. She claimed it wasn't her fault, they should have had a "do not enter" sign. I believe she lost her case and had to pay damages.
