All I know is that some cars get scratched from something at the carwash sometimes. It happened with a brand new car. No fun.

I wonder if some past inventions are better than today's.

I much prefer the brushes over the high-pressure spray...I've seen paint chunks come off in the high-pressure spray.....

Back in the day, washing the car on Saturday before the big date

on Saturday night was part of the dating ritual. A guy wanted to show off his car to that cheerleader who finally agreed to go out with him, so in the days before the convenience of commercial car washes, he'd put his hot rod in the driveway, get out a bucket of soapy water and a sponge, and get to work. The date often included a trip to the drive-in movie - which made the condition of the inside of the car even more important. Talking here of the days of shelf seats and no seat belts.
