There are a few neighbors I know who if they start talking, I won't be able to get any work done...I can picture the enveloping darkness.

In the midst of yesterday's snowstorm a stranger knocked on my door. It was a lady I had never seen before. She wanted to know if I had a can of cream of chicken soup that she could borrow. I have never, ever had anyone ask to borrow from me before in this place. She said she wanted to cook two Cornish Hens. I really wished I had what she needed. It would have been a nice way to get to know her.

I like your description of the wall and the people who used to stop
and talk - the world was slower then, and talking more necessary. Nice to think of the crocus returning and bringing Spring to dance along the wall.

i love the crocus and the daffodils for they mean spring has arrived. people used to drive out on a Sunday from the local town just to look at Mother's garden. It was glorious in the spring every year.
