The dead vote count is usually in the larger cities....Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, ect.

In southern Illinois we have a saying "vote early and often," but all the poll workers I know are long-term residents who read the obits faithfully. I think they'd notice if one of the dearly departed - or someone with the deceased's registration card - tried to cast a bogus vote.
I seem to remember a couple elections back there was some concern about new computerized voting machines the county had purchased. Conspiracy theorists feared they'd been pre-programmed to throw the vote to republican candidates. Looks like there's no shortage of conspiracy theories.
